Mother's Day Bike Ride
Drew's latest, coolest toy is a front-mounted bike seat. Okay, maybe Daddy's latest, coolest toy. The weather finally broke enough (no hail today!) to take this bad-boy and the boy for a ride. Perfect way to spend a fine Mother's Day afternoon.
Drew is signing "again", which is his way of saying, "C'mon Daddy, don't stop. Keep going!"
Side profile. This is by our garden plot. Notice the razor wire topping the chain-link fence. That's how we roll...
Doesn't get much cuter than a baby in a bike helmet.
Seawall by the Olympic Village. BC Place is taking shape.
Practicing his finish line victory pose. Might have to get this guy a yellow jersey.

Conversations with Drew
[signed words are in square brackets]
While playing pass on the living room floor:
M (Mama): Drew, pass [Mama] the [ball]
D (Drew): [Ball] (throws the ball to Mama)
M: Yes, its your [ball], you smart boy! (rolls the ball back)
D: [Ball] (throws the ball in Mama's general direction)
M: Yes! [Ball]! (rolls the ball back to Drew)
(Drew looses interest in the ball and picks up his cymbals)
M: Are you [all done] playing [ball]?
D: [All done] [All done] [All done]
M: Is it time to make some [Music]?
D: [Music] (looks expectantly over at the stereo)
M (while getting up to turn on some music): okay, [Mama] will turn on the [music]!
D: [Music][Music][Music] (starts dancing)
At the lunch table. After eating very little, Drew is flinging his food around, Mama is attempting to get him to eat more variety:
M: Drew, do you want some [cheese]?
D: [Cheerios]
M: Do you want some [peas]?
D: [Cheerios]
M: Do you want a bite of Mama's [apple]?
D: [Cheerios]
M: Do you want me to get you a [cracker]?
D: [Cheerios]
(Mama sighs and reluctantly hands Drew another handful of Cheerios)
After 15 minutes of nursing:
M: Drew are you almost [all done]?
(Drew stops nursing, looks up and shakes his head, and then starts nursing again)
M: Do you want to [play] on the [floor]?
(Drew stops nursing, looks up and shakes his head, and then starts nursing again)
M: Time to finish, Mama wants to get some lunch.
(Drew stops nursing, looks up and shakes his head, and then starts nursing again)
M (sitting Drew up and pulling down her shirt): That's enough, baby. [all done].
D (while pulling on Mama's shirt): [Milk][Milk][Milk][Milk][Milk][Milk][Milk]
(Mama gives in and lets Drew nurse a little longer)
