If girth is any measure of health...

...our Drew is doing just fine.

He just keeps getting rounder.

And since in the sick baby world weight gain is one of the biggest positive indicators of overall health, our Dr's are very pleased with his progress. At our appointment earlier this week the Dr kept congratulating me on how sturdy he looks (as though this is something I accomplished? Interestingly the praise was distinctly directed solely at me, although David was also present...). We don't actually know what his weight is because she decided that there was no need to drag out the scale since clearly his weight is not a concern. Before we left she warned us not to be concerned if he ends up being delayed in learning to sit as he may have trouble bending at the middle.

As you can see, he does look a little uncomfortable in the Bumbo chair:

Our David was 24 lbs at 6 mos and 28 lbs at a year. Didn't stop him from sitting and crawling (on time) or walking at 10.5 months. Around 8 mos, I was concerned we'd have to buy Depends rather than Pampers, as he almost outgrew the largest available size. By age 2 he was only around 30 lbs, no doubt from all the exercise he got. Drew has the 'just watch me' attitude and will show those doctors that statistics are meant to be "blown away". Hugs for all.

Hey Karla and David....maybe this means all of you can sleep through the entire night with no feedings!! Perhaps you are already at the sleep through the night...Nicolas and Chloe did it at approximately 6 weeks but Drews medical stuff might make it all different. Adriel as a premie and getting such a noisy nights beginning at the hospital took a very long time to sleep through the night.
We thank God daily for his continuing provision for your family.
